SearchMe Review
Well, it seems everyone wants to have a search engine. Some have been more creative than others. Some have just been ridiculous. Cuil announcing they will compete with Google was about the most ridiculous statement made by anyone in quite awhile. Cuil likely won’t even compete with ask.com or MSN, let alone google.
SearchMe.com is different and creative and so far I haven’t seen them say they will be the google killer like Cuil did.
The thing you will notice right away is that searchme.com is more visual. I like the concept. People can get a preview to see if it is what they are looking for.
However, I also see a lot of sites ranking for terms that are not even built yet. No content there at all. The Searchme.com seems very content/keyword focused so I cannot see how the sites not built yet are getting ranked.
Whenever you pull up a page on searchme.com, it circles the keywords that appear on the page when they match your search terms. If the content is the focus, then why the pages appear with no content confuses me. Also of that is the case, will garbage sites rank just because they are stuffed with keywords?
I hope not because I like searchme.com and would like to see more people using it.
Another thing I observed is that I was much more willing to go beyond the top 10 results because of the way you view the pages and can easily look at the next page. You also see the pages on the right that are “on deck” instead of just the one in front of you.
I think as a result, websites that are more appealing will attract the searcher to take a look at the next page even though it ranks a spot lower than the one the searcher is looking at.
Anyway, just wanted to share searchme.com with you and would like to hear what you think about it.
