Google Sells Performics
Google has a webpage that gives advice about choosing an SEO company. On that page it says, “While Google doesn’t have a special relationship with any SEO company”.
Yet, read this from Search Engine Watch about Google selling Performics . . .
Google has sold its Performics search marketing business to the Publicis Groupe.
said Google Chairman and Chief Executive Eric Schmidt in a statement. “We look forward to working with Performics as a partner.”
So which is it? Google has no special relationship with any SEO or SEM Company so they sell Performics to prove it, then say they are looking forward to working with them as a partner?
From a previous entry . . .
Google’s DoubleClick to sell search marketing unit
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Google Inc plans to split off its search marketing arm from its affiliate marketing business and sell the search marketing business at its recently acquired DoubleClick advertising technology unit.
Tom Phillips, director of DoubleClick’s integration efforts with Google, said the company wants to dispose of the search marketing business to eliminate the perception Google might favor the unit in its search results and other efforts.
“It’s clear to us that we do not want to be in the search engine marketing business,” Phillips wrote. “Maintaining objectivity in both search and advertising is paramount to Google’s mission and core to the trust we ask from our users.”
Google says trust us. We have no special relationship with anyone in the search marketing business but still maintains they look forward to working with them as a partner? I really do not understand.
