New Web Business Guide Chapter 1B – Getting Started With PPC Ad Marketing

The New Web Business Guide Introduction can be found here. Chapter 1 – Choosing the type of new web business to start can be found here

Contextual Ad Marketing

Sometimes these websites are called “Made For Adsense” websites. When you sign up with Google Adsense or one of the other programs, you get a snippet of code you can place into your website. The ad company then serves ads onto your webpages that are relevant to the content in those webpages. So if you write about shampoo or how to choose the right shampoo for your type of hair, ads will appear on those pages where people can buy shampoo or other health and beauty products.

The idea is to attract people who search for your keywords, (in this case shampoo), to your webpages you built that talk about that topic. Then if those ads are related, people are more likely to click those ads. Each time they do, you get a certain payment like 10 cents, more or less, depending on what the advertiser pays for the ads and how the company you signed up with pays people who use their program.

This is called Pay Per Click Advertising. The advertiser bids on keywords and the ppc company places their ads on relevant webpages in hopes that users will click the ads and go to the advertiser’s website. You get paid each time a user clicks on the ad from your webpage.

There will be a chapter on Pay Per Click or PPC Advertising in the new web business guide. And there will be information about how to build your made for PPC website to get the most conversions or click-thrus on your ads to maximize your revenue.

For now, you need to research which programs you want to join. You don’t need to sign up for them yet. You will need your domain name and website before you do. That will be discussed in the next chapter.

You can take a look at the applications for each of the ppc programs here and bookmark them for after you have your website up and running.

You can also search for other contextual ad companies to sign up with.

In the next chapter of the new web bsuiness guide we will discuss selling advertising on your website as a business plan.
