Making Money Selling Advertising On Your Website

This may be the most difficult online business to start for many people. Advertisers will not advertise on your website just because you have a great looking website or because you have a really great idea you think will be big.

Advertisers are only interested in how much traffic you have and how well that traffic might benefit them. If you run a website where people can play games for instance, a game company might advertise with you if you have enough game players coming in to play games there.

Advertising can be sold on a lot of different types of websites and in a wide variety of different ways.

You can start a forum about a topic you thing will attract advertisers. You will have to get people to sign up for the forum. You will have to encourage them to post to the forum a lot. You can start a blog. Once you have enough subscribers and people commenting on your blog, advertisers will be interested. Blogs with a lot of comments have the best chance of attracting advertisers.

One blog with 6000 visitors and very few comments is not as good for the advertiser as a blog with 3000 visitors and a ton of comments. If people take the time to comment on your blog they are also more likely to click over to advertisers.

You can build a website that attracts enough visitors to make your site attractive to advertisers. To do this you will need a lot of content related to specific topics relevant to the advertisers you wish to attract.

You can put together an ezine or newsletter and attract advertisers if you get enough people to subscribe. The advertiser will be interested not in just the number of subscribers you have but also things like how many people actually read it. If you use a newsletter manager like constant contact, those statistics and more are easy to get to.
